There is a notable absence of the favorite Castle lager pints in most drinking outlets in Gwanda following an exposé by Bulawayo24.com that imbibers were being subjected to drinking beers whose tops were contaminated with rust leading to them having running tummies.

A survey in most drinking outlets revealed the rare shortage of castle lager pints(375ml).

Outlets that had castle in stock sold only quarts (750ml).

A bar lady at one of the drinking outlets said Delta Beverages has since stopped dispatching the rusty beers whilst awaiting new deliveries resulting in the shortage.

The revelations about the rusty beers reportedly embarrassed senior management at Delta who ordered that the beers be immediately recalled.

Drinkers of castle lager last week started complaining of running tummies after drinking castle pints.

Some rust had accumulated on the tops after a delivery truck reportedly broke down during the rains.

Imbibers had resorted to first wiping their beers with their shirts to remove the rust that had also accumulated on the bottle mouth.

Although relatively harmless, rust can also cause nausea and vomiting.
