MATABELELAND NORTH - A Binga transporter popularly known as 'umalayitsha' was axed to death during a scuffle with three man who accused him of overcharging them for sending parcels home.
A relative of the deceased- Trust Muleya who lost his life in Hillbrow last month told a local tabloid that Muleya was beaten to death by three men, whose names could not be ascertained- who wanted to send parcels home through him.
"Three men approached him (the deceased) seeking to send parcels from Hillbrow to Zimbabwe (Binga) and he told them that it costs 2000 rands to transport them but they accused him of overcharging," James Muleya narrated the ordeal that befell his kinsman.
"They returned later on the same day with the parcels but he refused to take them telling them to pay the stipulated fee. They then brutally assaulted him and left him for dead."
Muleya added that the following day the deceased's body was discovered with his head axed. He said the assailants are not known but cops in South Africa had launched serious investigation to bring them to book.
