Government pledges support for indigenous churches

Government says it will continue to support and give assistance to indigenous churches as they play a pivotal role in peace building.
The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Cde Didymus Mutasa said this at the 10th anniversary celebrations occasion of the Guta RaMwari Zvimiso Church in the Gurure area of Nyazura.
Cde Mutasa applauded the church for its stance in preaching a wholly indigenous doctrine and gospel to Zimbabweans.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu PF Central Committee member, Senator Mandi Chimene applauded the role which the Guta RaMwari Zvimiso Church has played in inculcating African values in society.
The church's administrator, Mr Barnabas Chimota affirmed his church's support for government's peace efforts especially at a time when the country is heading for elections.
The Guta RaMwari shrine which is situated at Chimene Village in the Gurure area of Nyazura was home to the church's founder, Amai Chaza.
The church, which has grown tremendously over the years, has spread its wings across SADC and various countries in Africa and the United Kingdom.
