Felix Sibanda must take old people with him to Canaan

If Felix Magagela Mafa Sibanda had not beaten everyone to make an announcement for Chamisa as new Kingpin of Bulawayo and if Khupe has been endorsed by Bulawayo, Chamisa would have never been president of the party. These are the facts.

Until now, Bulawayo province has been viewed as the power base of one of the MDC-T's three vice presidents, Thokozani Khupe - who is the only elected senior figure among Tsvangirai's deputies.

Khupe is often touted as the "Queen of Matebeleland" due to her influence in the region.

But MDC Bulawayo spokesperson Felix Magagela Mafa Sibanda threw the cat among the pigeons on the 10th of February 2018 when he declared that the province was "in fact supporting Chamisa as its national president.

" The Bulawayo provincial executive and all its subordinate structures hereby, this day of February 10, 2018, affirms and confirms the appointment of Nelson Chamisa as the effective acting president of the Movement for Democratic Change, (MDC) henceforth."
The above statement by non other than Felix Mafa Sibanda became a watershed for Chamisa. In essence Sibanda became a king maker in Chamisa.

It is my belief that man of Felix 's stature are hard to come by. Bold and firm acknowledged the need for the youth to be in leadership. Not only leadership but top leadership of the MDC-T. Man like Felix are *amadhodha sibili*. They are are really a rare breed which is very vital for this great movement.

It is man like Felix who are king makers who have a great responsibility in bringing the mixture of the youths and the old together in MDC-T so as to give a coherent unconquerable movement. MDC-T with Chamisa representing the youth and Felix the old would be a force to reckon with in Zimbabwean politics.

Nelson Chamisa as the president of the movement can only ignore Felix at his own peril. Felix has the ear of the aged. Felix had been mentored by father Zimbabwe himself the great Joshua Nkomo. Felix was there at the beginning with the likes of Morgan and Gibson working with NCA. Felix was there yesterday and is there as a trusted Cadre of the movement today and tomorrow. Indeed Felix can be a useful asset to the MDC T if he is reassigned to a bigger role in the movement. A bigger platform to motivate the older families faces.

I believe from the list of possible candidates for the vice presidency Felix Magagela Mafa Sibanda's name would come tops. He indeed has all the characteristics. He is humble, hardworking, loyal and is there for everyone. What touches me most is a picture of him tying posters for the upcoming MDC-Alliance rally to be held in Bulawayo. Felix is a unifier who is for the young and old.


In my own opinion the final list of seniors and leadership that holds the winning ticket for MDC-T come this election in 2018 involves the following :

Morgen Komichi--National Chairman
Nomathemba Ndlovu-- Deputy National Chairperson

Tabitha Khumalo--National Spokesperson.
James Maridadi--Deputy National Spokesperson

It is indeed fact that Felix Magagela Mafa Sibanda would make sure that MDC-Alliance have the vote of the old. True as a statesman that he is Felix would deliver the old in the MDC Alliance to Canaan. Chamisa can ignore this at his and MDC Alliance peril.
