Thabani Mpofu Must Recall Nelson Chamisa from Harvard: It's a CIA Scholarship!

Advocate Thabani Mpofu was recently heard mocking Senator Sengezo Tshabangu's illness. A learned legal scholar making jokes about a man battling for his life in India - how low can one sink? I am no fan of Tshabangu, and many share that view. But to ridicule a sick man, to say "Tshabangu can even recall his colon cancer," is not wit - it's moral poverty.

Thabani Mpofu has failed the opposition multiple times. Nelson Chamisa won elections twice, yet legal experts couldn't argue the stolen results. We remember the V-11s - Mpofu failed to present a convincing case in 2018. He couldn't even add the numbers to expose ZEC's manipulation. Yet the opposition continued to trust him with legal matters far beyond his paygrade. Mpofu is the last person who should throw diatribes at Tshabangu - the best lawyer among the blind.

Now, Mpofu must recall Chamisa from Harvard University. Why? Rumours suggest Chamisa received a CIA-sponsored scholarship to pursue a doctorate. Another version claims Chamisa is working hand-in-glove with ZANU PF. His departure to the U.S. is a strategic retreat - to avoid the 2028 election saga and leave the opposition toothless. If true, it's a scandal of epic proportions.

Yet, Chamisa's absence might be a blessing in disguise. It's a golden opportunity for Zimbabweans to think beyond Chamisa's influence. New names must rise to form a strong opposition capable of challenging ZANU PF. Chamisa has dominated politics for too long, misleading the masses into believing he's a genuine opponent of the establishment. His absence allows the nation to reset - to redefine the revolution.

Another version suggests Chamisa fears exposure. His alleged ties to ZANU PF have circulated for years. When a rumour makes two or three rounds without dying, it becomes fact. Chamisa allegedly received a brown envelope to shift his political stance in Mnangagwa's favour. His academic leave is timely - he'll be absent until 2030, conveniently aligning with Mnangagwa's extended rule. Chamisa wants to appear uninvolved, blameless.

Chamisa's accumulation of titles is fascinating. He studied law to climb the political ladder. Then he became a pastor - though his religious actions seem more performative than conviction-driven. Now he seeks a doctorate, not bought like others, but earned. Commendable.

I believe Chamisa was present when Mpofu made that sickening joke about Tshabangu. These young men have not learned Ubuntu. They've never been taught that disliking someone doesn't justify stripping their dignity. Human dignity is inviolable. Respecting and protecting it is the duty of all state authority.

German law says it best:
"The German people are committed to inviolable and inalienable human rights, as these form the basis of every human community, of peace and justice in the world."
This is Article 1, Paragraph 2 of the German Basic Law. I cite it deliberately for Mpofu and Chamisa - two lawyers who should know better.

To mock a man battling colon cancer is cruel. Thabani Mpofu, you are a sick man. You need urgent treatment. What if you're carrying the disease and don't know it? Who gave you permission to speak publicly about Tshabangu's illness? Medical conditions are private. Who gave you access to hospital records? Tshabangu should sue you for publicly disclosing his health status.
