Mnangagwa shows true colours, threatens opposition

Zanu-PF vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired warning shots intended to cow the opposition and civic society against protesting the deteriorating economic situation in Zimbabwe.
The VP who is on record warning that he is a killer, cannot be ignored, particularly as one opposition activist is already missing and feared abducted by security forces under his control.
In fact as we write another of Itai Dzanmara colleagues in the Occupy African Unity Square movement has been abducted.
Mnangagwa is quoted in the Sunday Mail saying that the Zanu-PF government will not allow "puppet opposition elements" to plunge Zimbabwe into chaos and will act decisively on "rabble-rousers who promote anarchy."
The Sunday Mail - a vehicle for Zanu-PF suppression of dissent - backs up Mnangagwa's threats by claiming that that MDC-T is pining for political instability.
In fact all sectors of the Zimbabwean society are dissatisfied with the government's failure to provide basic services, and street protests are inevitable.
The Sunday Maild also links the MDC iwith NGOs that are holding workshops which it says are meant to prime youths for the anarchy.
MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai's visit to the US is now said to have been intended to "drum up support for the plan."
The VP also inadvertently exposed that the government is holding the disappeared activist, Itai Dzamara, by saying that the authorities have established that a foreign hand was behind a protest by MDC-T youths outside Parliament Building in Harare two weeks ago.
This is when Itai was abducted, and he has not been seen since.
Mnangagwa said the media was behind allegations that Zimbabwe is on the brink of collapse, but, he said, the truth was that Zanu-PF would never be deterred in ruling Zimbabwe by the likes of Morgan Tsvangirai who went to the US to spread rumours that Zimbabwe is on the brink of collapse.
The MDC are sell-outs sent by our enemies to tarnish Zimbabwe which is a peaceful country working towards national development and claiming that it is on the brink of collapse to please their funders, he said.
The Sunday Mail then repeated its allegations that the US Council of Foreign Relations, anticipates civil unrest from which the US hopes to benefit by colluding with select NGOs and Zanu-PF turn-coats.
We have already reported about this misinformation here, but Mnangagwa's statement is adding to fears that the Zanu-PF government is planning to use this as an excuse to clamp down on the opposition.
Zimbabwe is indeed headed for a disaster with no money to pay civil servants nor to mitigate against the drought.
