Bulawayo hotels fully booked ahead of Mine Entra 2026

Bulawayo's tourism and hospitality sector is enjoying a major business boom ahead of the 28th edition of Mine Entra 2026, with hotels, lodges and alternative accommodation providers reporting near-capacity bookings as delegates arrive for Zimbabwe's premier mining, engineering and transport exhibition.

The three-day exhibition opens on Wednesday and runs until Friday at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES), promising a significant economic boost for the city through increased spending on accommodation, transport, food and other services.

Like the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Mine Entra has become one of Bulawayo's flagship business events, attracting thousands of delegates and transforming the city into a hub of investment discussions, business networking and technological innovation.

Hosted by the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company in partnership with the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe and the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, this year's exhibition is running under the theme: "Unearth, Transform, Prosper: Anchoring Economic Transformation through Mining Value Chains."

The event is expected to draw leading mining companies, equipment manufacturers, technology providers, investors, policymakers and industry experts from Zimbabwe and across the region.

Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) Bulawayo representative Mrs Grace Guchu-Nkomo said accommodation providers had recorded exceptional demand ahead of the exhibition.

"Most hotels and lodges are fully booked. Tourism and hospitality sector players are fairly busy due to the high demand for services during this time," she said.

Mrs Guchu-Nkomo urged hospitality operators to maintain high service standards to ensure visitors enjoy their stay in Bulawayo.

"We must ensure that we are well prepared and provide world-class services to our guests," she said.

Sterling Bulawayo Hotel general manager Mr Fungai Mutseyekwa said the hotel had reached full occupancy and had been forced to turn away companies that attempted to make last-minute reservations.

"Apart from Mine Entra, we had other bookings as well, which makes it a very busy period. As usual, we will put our best foot forward to make our guests stay in Bulawayo even longer," he said.

Alternative accommodation providers are also benefiting from the influx of visitors.

Crown Events owner and Airbnb host Ms Samantha Banda said Mine Entra attracts high-value business travellers, including mining executives, Government officials, suppliers and exhibitors, whose expectations extend beyond accommodation.

"These type of guests value comfort, WiFi and zero stress. Accommodation service providers, especially BnBs, should nail the basics like clean linen, hot water, air conditioning where possible, fast reliable WiFi and backup power supply," she said.

She encouraged accommodation providers to enhance their offerings with breakfast and dinner options, laundry and housekeeping services, secure parking and shuttle or vehicle hire services.

Ms Banda added that collaboration among accommodation providers, transport operators and other tourism stakeholders was essential to delivering a seamless experience for visitors from arrival to departure.

Now in its 28th year, Mine Entra has established itself as one of Zimbabwe's leading specialised exhibitions, providing a strategic platform for companies operating in the mining, engineering and transport sectors to showcase products, forge partnerships and explore investment opportunities.

The Mine Entra Buyers Programme, running from July 29 to 31, will facilitate targeted business-to-business matchmaking by connecting exhibitors with key decision-makers from across the African mining value chain.
