CURTAIN colour can depend on a lot of things. They can match your bedding, or your wall colour, but mostly they can be used to balance the decor of your room, which will define the colour. If you want a light and airy feel to the room, then choose white or off white linen curtains. If you want something traditional or dramatic, choose an accent colour in a heavier material like velvet or silk. Choose your look first then balance out your decor with the curtain weight and colour.
For a clean, contemporary look, choose bed linens that harmonise with the straight lines and contemporary style of the furniture. Limit the pattern palette to two contrasting patterns and a solid one.
Multi-colour pinstripe cotton sheets and pillow cases lay the foundation, and a simple gray and white wave pattern on the duvet and Euro shams breathes light and air into the room. A pair of solid accent pillows pulls the persimmon colour out of the sheets.
Invest in quality bedding and a timeless colour combination and you'll enjoy the sheets for years. White and brown create a serene mood and suits any decorating style, from the traditional bedroom to a contemporary one.
Luxury sheets with a decorative top edge are meant to be turned back over the coverlet to display the edging. Pillow shams on the accent pillows repeat the edging, while the bed pillows feature an embroidered vine motif.
A bedroom should be a sanctuary — a place of quiet retreat after a busy day, a spot to unwind while changing out of work clothes, or even a relaxing room in which to watch the evening news. Most of all, a bedroom should be the most comfortable and calming place to rest a weary body after the close of a long day.
We often focus on our living rooms or kitchens, places that the guests can see, and neglect the room where we will spend more than one-third of our lives!
