A Duck's Search For Fresh Water: Unleash Your Creativity

07 Sep 2016 at 21:55hrs | Views
(Warning: The Following Message May Change Your Life)
A hen-duck leads her ducklings up to more than half a mile or more over land after hatching in order to find a suitable water source for swimming and feeding.

Dare to be different. If you are doing what someone else is doing, exactly the way he is doing it, how then is your existence really a necessity? You were brought into this world to do things in a way no one else can do. This world has less respect for photocopies. Great businesses, families, careers, and legacies are built by men and women who dare to be different; yes, men and women who always seek for new ways of doing things, new strategies and insights of being more effective and productive. The hen-duck isn't lazy, it does not just accept any readily available water source or food for its young one, but it goes a long distance in seeking new and fresh resources for its ducklings.

Mashele M says, ‘Our greatness is just a step away from our familiar to the unfamiliar; that moment one decides to be different and pursue that which is unfamiliar to the world. We get comfortable with the systems of the yesterday, how it has always been done. The world is longing for new way of doing things, it comes from within, when we start maneuvering life with the internal GPS, inspired by our vision, values, and passion.'

Don't feed your career, business or marriage only on old ideas of ancient men. Break out of the mould. You can never get to new territories on old roads? Life has a way of narrowing your outlook and expeditions to the tracks of old that have been already walked and overly trodden by others; with a good promise of ‘safety' but a sad punishment to a life of solemn mediocrity.' Seek for new solutions to challenges, step in with new ideas to take your business or career to the next level, be innovative, have new insights, look for new ways of spicing up your relationship or marriage.

Run With Giants
The duck is very serious about seeking the best and most fresh resources for the upkeep of its young one. The question then is, will you be outclassed by the duck's creativity and resourcefulness to make your dream a reality? One of the effective ways to tap into great ideas about how best to nurture your dreams is to be deliberate with your choice of associations.

Whenever you find out that you are now the greatest men in your group, it's important to move over to another group of men greater than yourself. If you are the most brilliant person in particular place, don't be too comfortable. You may be in that room to sharpen those below your level (which is good), however staying there for a long time will only weaken your effectiveness as you won't get much sharpening from those below your standards. Mingle with the very best, run with giants and swim with sharks. Learn from the very best, but don't forget to inject your own new creative ideas. Observe the expert's secrets of success in your field, but don't forget to observe and navigate your way around the mistakes they made.

The danger of not exposing yourself to the excellent ideas and strategies of the successful people in your field is that you may spend several years ‘discovering' something that was already discovered by someone else a long time ago. What a waste of time that would be; imagine spending countless nights and several years researching, only to come up with great ideas that were already available on google! Learn the best ideas from the very best and then strategize how you can make the best from the very best much better!

Being resourceful like a duck then requires that we get wisdom and advice from the very best and ask ourselves if the effective ideas we are seeking are not already readily available. You see, the duck does not just lead the weak newly born baby-duck up to half a mile to seek for new resources or fresh water; she first checks around to see if there isn't any good source of fresh water nearby. It is only when the mother duck is convinced that there is no fresh source within her environment that she begins to proceed and ‘research' in other places.

If you claim to be serious about being one of the best yet you don't know any of the world's greatest people in your field, you will be seen as a moving joke, I mean you will be laughed out of town. Learn from the giants and masters of your industry without losing your originality. Getting exposure is a game-changer. It's necessary to stretch your imagination by exposing yourself to new environments, networking with the titans of your industry and opening your mind to new possibilities. What you are currently exposed to is not the best, there is always a better way of doing things. Someone once said, ‘The biggest room in the world, is the room for improvement.'

In places of limited exposure, your mind fails to think creatively and you limit your success factor to what you expose your mind to. Mother duck travels long distances with her young one, in pursuit of fresh water sources. Shouldn't we put some extra effort as well in finding suitable fresh ideas to sustain your dream? We need to feed our vision with fresh effective ideas in this dynamic world we live in. We need to sacrifice and walk an extra mile like a duck in search of new efficient strategies to develop our business, marriages, and careers.

We need to feed our vision with fresh effective ideas in this dynamic world we live in. We need to sacrifice walking long distances like ducks in search of new efficient strategies to develop our business, marriages, and careers. We need to walk long distances like hen ducks who will lead her ducklings up to a half mile or more over land after hatching in order to find a suitable water source for swimming and feeding. Walking long distances means walking an extra mile, making sacrifices, giving it our all and finding the possible best ideas and resources.

After taking your first bold step out of the nest (which is noble and commendable), you will then find out that you need to continue sharpening your skills and injecting new creative ideas in your field, thus distinguishing yourself from those who are content with being average. At times you will need to walk more than half a mile like a duck , seeking not only exciting but also exceptionally effective and creative ways of doing whatever you are doing in a way that no else has ever done.

You need to be resourceful if your duckling (business, life, relationship or career) is to be healthy and strong. Sacrifices have to be made; and the higher the prize, the higher the price. Mr/Mrs. Duck, how many miles are you prepared to travel in search of your duckling's suitable water source for swimming and feeding?
