'Tshiki' transfer talks hits a brickwall

Highlanders chief executive Ndumiso Gumede has dismissed rumours that ageing striker Njabulo 'Tshiki' Ncube's return to the Bulawayo giants is imminent, and instead cast a shadow of doubt over the move.
Ncube is currently contracted to Zvishavane outfit FC Platinum after joining the club from Bosso prior to the start of the 2014 campaign. He had played a key role in Bosso's campaign last year, helping the Kevin Kaindu-coached side to victory in the Mbada Diamonds Cup, but has struggled for game time at an FC Platinum side that is brimming with attacking talent.
According to Gumede, Bosso and Kugona Kunenge Kudada had been negotiating the player's transfer, but the discussions hit a brick wall that could ultimately scupper the move.
"Nothing has changed, it is the same old story. We went there (Zvishavane) to do negotiations with FC Platinum and we were told that they needed a minimum $5 000 upfront before we could talk about the sign on fee," said Gumede.
"We then reached a deadlock because they wanted compensation, saying Ncube owed their club loans and we cannot pay for that."
The Highlanders boss however indicated that the league leaders still intended to be active in the current transfer window, provided they get the greenlight on reinforcements from the Kaindu-led technical team.
"Yes, we are ready to bring in new players, but we can only do that if the technical team has said so and at the moment they are quiet on that matter," he said.
The Bulawayo giants have been linked with a potential reunion with Ncube for some time now and the striker also trained with his former club before the start of the season, raising speculation that a deal was on the cards.
Indications from within the Bosso camp are that the 2006 champions will be looking to bolster their attack which has been heavily reliant on goals from attacking midfielder Charles Sibanda, while the duo of winger Kudakwashe Mahachi and the versatile Milton 'Milito' Ncube have left the club for the lucrative ABSA Premiership in neighbouring South Africa.
