Harare - Zimbabwean football is set to benefit from the partnership between four time European Champions League winners Barcelona and Premier Soccer League sponsors Castle Lager which will see Barcelona coaches coming to Zimbabwe to hold coaching clinics.
The clinics will not be restricted to Premier Soccer League clubs only but will also be extended to other lower league coaches depending on the way the authorities in Zimbabwean football organise themselves.
On top of that, Delta also revealed that they will also send Zimbabwean football supporters to the city of Barcelona to watch the Spanish giants in action but on condition that the recipients win competitions that Castle Lager are setting up.
Delta made it clear that the coaches coming to Zimbabwe might include the manager of Barcelona Football Club Gerardo Martino and his backroom staff that is Known throughout the world.
However, the Premier Soccer League sponsors were quick to point out that people should not expect an immediate tour of Barcelona to Zimbabwe for this required time and more negotiations.
The agreement between Barcelona, Castle Lager and its 11 other African countries does not involve the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League hence the benefits to the Zimbabwean football fraternity is out of Castle Lager's choice.
Delta marketing director Maxen Karombo told the gathering that Zimbabwean football should benefit from the agreement just like the other 11 African countries involved but added that it was up to the Zimbabwean football family itself to see that things went their way.
Karombo said in as much as Castle Lager wanted to assist local football more, the problem was the disorganization in Zimbabwean football which left sponsors with no choice but not get involved.
Karombo said Castle Lager was there as partners for other sponsors adding that since their involvement in football, many other sponsors, among them Mbada Diamonds, Banc ABC and NetOne have come into football.
"As the league's sponsors, we are there as facilitators to have more people coming into football. When we came in, there was no sponsor for the PSL. But now, there are many of them. People should ne thanking Delta instead of criticizing,' said Karombo.
Castle Lager also sponsor the selection of the Soccer Star of the Year, and have been doing that since 1969.
