Jomo Cosmos were promoted to the PSL after beating Moroka Swallows 1-0 at the Dobsonville Stadium in the final promotion/relegation playoff match on Wednesday night.

Cosmos were promoted ahead of Black Leopards, after both sides finished on seven points, however Cosmos had the superior goal difference.

The first half was an edgy affair, with Cosmos arguably being the more attacking side, but neither team really had any clear cut chances in the first forty five minutes.

But despite being more aggressive, goal chances eluded Jomo Sono's side.

However things looked to swing even more to their advantage when just before half-time Lerato Chabangu was shown a straight red card for a studs up tackle on Ndabenhle Mthembu.

Cosmos, now with the one man advantage, started the second half looking for that all important goal, and Swallows goalkeeper Obren Cuckovic had to be alert to make a string of saves, most notably to deny Charlton Mashumba's attempt from a free-kick.

Cuckovic, made the starting line-up after both other Swallows 'keepers, Sage Stephens and Greg Etafia, were declared unfit, and in fact the Dube Birds had no goalkeeper on the bench.

Brice Aka had a great chance to give Cosmos the lead in the 53rd minute, but when he had a chance to shoot, he squared the ball instead, and the ball was cleared.

A minute later Cosmos had another chance, but this time Mashumba's effort was cleared off the line by Rudi Isaacs.

Swallows had a chance from a setpiece in the 61st minute, but Lantshene Phalane's effort from the right of goal flew over Sherwyn Naicker's goal.

Ten minutes later, after a drop in the pace of the game, Nkanyiso Madonsela had a chance for Cosmos from the edge of the area, but his attempt was rushed and went well wide of goal.

Cosmos finally went into the lead in the 75th minute, when substitute Pentjie Zulu set up Wiseman Maluleke, who fired into to make it 1-0.

That solitary goal, after a few nervy minutes, was enough to give Cosmos the win, and return Jomo Sono's team to South Africa's top flight.
