Arsenal's Arshavin has been the topic of transfer news lately. Zenit St. Petersburg have also added themselves to the player's transfer issues but Arsenal's Wenger is not ready to let Arshavin go.
A couple of weeks ago, it was rumoured that the Russian midfielder could be heading to Juventus. However, Arshavin's agent quickly downplayed these speculations.
Recently though, English news source The Sun reported that Zenit St. Petersburg are keen to bringing Arshavin back to the place where he first was before moving to Arsenal in 2009. According to The Sun, the Russian club's sporting director Igor Korneev declared:
"With Arshavin, it's very simple. We'd always welcome him back to the club – whether this happens now, or in the future."
Andrey Arshavin has been enduring a rather poor season currently. His playing time has considerably been limited – something which only helps transfer rumours surrounding the player to intensify. However, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger claims not to be looking at Arshavin's poor records this year with an envy to see the player out of the Emirates Stadium.
"Arshavin will not leave, I'm very happy with him," Wenger told the media a week ago.
"As far as I know, he and his wife are happy in London. I am also really happy with him. He is a great player.
"He is going through a period that is a bit difficult at the moment, but he works very hard in training. I'm desperate to keep him."
But the world of football transfers can go fast; a transfer news headline can change from a minute to the other and a move can be completed even at the very last hour of the transfer window.
So who knows if Arshavin will really remain at Arsenal this season? Zenit St. Petersburg's interest may be a good opportunity for Arshavin to enjoy more time on the grass.
