Faster, friendlier, and built for real conversation

We've rebuilt our discussion system from the ground up - making it easier to share your views, follow replies, and engage with stories that matter to you and your community.

What's new

  • Threaded conversations - Replies sit neatly beneath each comment. Long chains show the first three by default; click "See more replies" to expand.
  • Reactions + votes - Tap quick emoji reactions  or use Like/Dislike to register your take instantly.
  • Edit & delete - Spotted a typo or changed your mind? Edit your own comment, or delete it. Deleted comments are marked so threads stay readable.
  • Clean timestamps - Short and clear (e.g. "3h ago") with the full date in the tooltip.
  • Profile & avatars - Visit /comments/profile/ to set or change your avatar. A simple default avatar appears until you upload.
  • Smarter moderation - Editors can promote trusted users to moderators (and demote if needed) to keep discussions safe.
  • Trending & Live Discussions - See what people are talking about right now on the homepage widget or browse all at /comments/. Click to jump straight into the discussion view.

How to join the conversation

  1. Sign in or Register - Use the links above the comments box under any article. You'll return to the same story after login.
  2. Post a comment - Type your message and hit Post. To respond to someone, click Reply under their comment.
  3. React or vote - Add an emoji reaction or use Like/Dislike to acknowledge good points.
  4. Update your profile - Change your avatar any time at /comments/profile/.

House rules (short and simple)

We want robust debate - and we'll protect it. Keep it respectful, on-topic, and lawful. Personal attacks, hate speech, doxxing, impersonation, and spam are not allowed. Moderators may remove comments or restrict accounts that break these rules.

Quick tips

  • Mention context when replying in a busy thread so others can follow your point.
  • Check before posting - you can edit your own comment, but clarity up front keeps the flow tidy.
  • Use reactions to acknowledge good points without repeating them.

FAQ
