MULTI-TALENTED South Africa artiste Oscar "Oskido Mdlongwa has promised to give local house fanatics a Christmas to remember when he performs at the third annual Christmas Party on 25 December at Stop Over Bar in Bulawayo.

The show is part of Kalawa Jazzmee Christmas festivities, which will end with Oskido leading a group of South African artistes in performances at the much anticipated Home Coming gig on 27 December at Queens Cricket Grounds.

The gig will also feature local artistes Mitch Diamond and Dodo who will curtain raise before Oskido takes to the turntables.

In an interview, show co-ordinator Vusumuzi Siqalaba said everything was in place for a great Christmas party with Oskido.

"We are expecting a great show as this will be a build up to the Home Coming concert. We are working around the clock preparing for this show," he said.

Siqalaba said local based comedian, Babongile Sikhonjwa will add to the flair as he would be the day's master of ceremony.

Born to a Zimbabwean father and a South African mother, Oskido's career is a fairytale one.

After leaving Zimbabwe to seeker greener pastures in South Africa, he started out selling boerewors rolls from a stall outside Club Razzmatazz in Hillbrow.

Late at night, he would sneak in while the DJ was on break and take to the decks. One night, Razzmatazz's resident DJ's failed to show up for their gig and he was asked to stand in.

With his career flourishing, he never looked back as he went on to team up with producers, Don Laka and Christos Katsaitis, forming Kalawa Records.

Together they formed the famous Bothers of Peace (BOP) group 1993.

Oskido has produced and nurtured numerous artistes such as Bongo Maffin, Boom Shaka, Berita Khumalo and Mafikizolo.
