All roads will lead to Bulawayo's Stop Over Bar on Christmas Day when the city's favourite musical son Oscar "Oskido" Mdlongwa brings his unique brand of turntable magic home.
Multi-award winning South Africa-based Oskido is expected to spend Christmas Day with his "kinsmen" before taking to the deck to mesmerise and entertain his multitude of followers.
The gifted Oskido is widely expected to do what he is famed for, bringing the house down. The show dubbed: "The Third Annual Christmas Party," will kick off Kalawa Jazmee Christmas festivities in the country.
Event coordinator, Vusumuzi Siqalaba said the veteran musician is expected in the country on Christmas Day and would go around town meeting fans before the party in the evening.
"Everything is in place, the clearances and work permits have been sorted out. Oskido would be landing in the country on 25 December and will rest for a few hours before going round town to meet fans," said Siqalaba.
The Christmas gig will feature local artistes Mitch Diamond, Sbago, Scooby and Dodo, as curtain raisers before Oskido takes to the turntables.
Siqalaba said locally-based comedian, Babongile Sikhonjwa would spice up the party as the master of ceremony. He added that lucky readers of the Chronicle would get Oskido's CDs courtesy of the show organisers in the run up to the show.
Oskido is highly regarded as one of the top South African house and kwaito artistes, who have taken the music genre to a higher level.
He has churned hit after hit in recent years and his stable, Kalawa Jazmee is rated among the best in Africa.
His hit track Tsa Mandebele released last year was named as 12th Metro FM song of the year, beating DJ Zinhle's My name is (Zinhle), Fistaz Mixwell's Hade Mabebeza, Zonke's Feelings, Lvovo Derrango's Palesa and DJ Tira's 4000 in a tightly contested category earlier this year.
Oskido has produced and nurtured numerous artistes such as Bongo Maffin, Boom Shaka, Berita Khumalo and Mafikizolo. Oskido's Christmas gigs have become an annual feature on the local entertainment calendar.
The evergreen and amazingly creative performer has over the years come up with memorable shows in which he never fails to surpass the high standard he would have set the previous year.
Born to a Zimbabwean father and a South African mother, Oskido's career is a fairytale one. After leaving Zimbabwe to seeker greener pastures in South Africa, he started out selling boerewors rolls from a stall outside Club Razzmatazz in Hillbrow.
