South Africa-based Zimbabwean house sensation Oscar "Oskido" Mdlongwa and Via Orlando hit-maker Dr Malinga are set to perform in a one-off concert in Harare next month.
The two celebrated artistes will share the stage with local Djs who include Ash Styles, Storm and D Nosh on December 28 in the VIP Lounge of the Rainbow Towers.
Dee Nice, one of the organisers of the event, told the Daily News yesterday that the show by the popular two musicians was meant to set the tone for the New Year.
"All is set for the event and we are more than ready for the big day," said Dee Nice.
The highly-anticipated show, organised by X-Mo Squad, will be a perfect opportunity for Oskido to demonstrate why he continues to a firm favourite of many in South Africa. The Jezebel hit-maker is currently making waves in South Africa thanks to his song Tsa Mandebele which was named song of the year by Metro FM.
To claim pole position Oskido's song beat popular hits like DJ Zinhle's My name is (Zinhle), Fistaz Mixwell's Hade Mabebeza, Zonke's Feelings, Lvovo Derrango's Palesa and DJ Tira's 4000.
The December 28 concert will mark the return of Dr Malinga to Zimbabwe after his participation in the inaugural Beitbridge International Festival of Arts last month. The Via Orlando singer shared the stage with Iyasa and former Afrika Revenge member Willis Wattafi in the border town.
Oskido and Dr Malinga will perform in Harare eight days after another blockbuster concert by fellow South African artiste Zahara at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale.
Zahara is returning to Harare to market her latest album Phendula on December 20.
The Loliwe hit-maker, whose real name is Bulelwa Mkutukana, will share stage with superstar Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi and fast-rising afro-soul diva Tariro Ruzvidzo better known as Tariro negitare
Zahara last performed in the country early this year before the release of Phendula in September this year under TS Records.
Her album features guest appearances by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Anele and Neliswa, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki, and 2 Face Idibia among others.
The 25 year old South African diva's music commands a huge following in Zimbabwe. Hits like Lengoma, Loliwe, Destiny, My Guitar, Brand New Day, Shine, Umthwalo, Xa Bendingena Mama, Thekwana, Away, Ndize and Incwad'encane featuring a South Africa-based Zimbabwean artiste George Munetsi,have generated a huge following in the country for the diminutive entertainer.
