The City of Kings and Queens will tonight reverberate to the sounds of Kalawa Jazmee as the stable with its entourage of more than nine artistes puts the icing on the city's entertainment scene with hugely popular annual homecoming shows at Queens Sports Ground.
Some of South Africa's top artistes from the Kalawa stable are set to keep fans on their feet when they belt out a mixture of old and new releases.
The Kalawa stable's shows and artistes are now a permanent fixture on the country's local entertainment calendar since director and co-owner Oscar "Oskido" Mdlongwa introduced his homecoming show in Bulawayo four years ago.
The homecoming show is widely regarded as the city's premier entertainment gig as it draws large crowds with some coming from as far afield as Victoria Falls, Hwange, Kwekwe, Gweru, Beitbridge, Zvishavane and Masvingo, among other centres.
The artistes to watch at tonight's show is likely to be the nimble-footed Dr Malinga and Uhuru whose latest hit track Y Tjukutja is dominating most entertainment joints.
Vusumuzi Siqalaba, the promoter of the event, said everything was in place and Bulawayo music lovers should come in their numbers to enjoy some fine entertainment.
"Kalawa is a big stable that is internationally recognised and wherever they perform, they leave an indelible mark on their audiences, and Bulawayo is no exception. We expect them to leave another mark again tomorrow (tonight)," Siqalaba said.
He said they had made thorough preparations by securing all required equipment ranging from the stage to a giant PA system for the show.
He also added that all administrative work had been done and all artistes had been cleared to perform tonight.
Oskido and Pepsi are already in the city, while the rest are scheduled to arrive this afternoon. The artistes are expected to go on a walkabout in the city meeting fans ahead of the big gig.
The line-up of the Kalawa stable for tonight will include Oskido, Thebe, Dr Malinga, Pepsi, Candy, Heavy K, Berita, Uhuru, Professor and Character.
