Zimbabwe permit application process almost finished - SA Home Affairs

The Zimbabwean permit application process is almost finished and will close soon, the Homes Affairs Department confirmed on Thursday.
This was announced at the department's weekly briefing in Pretoria.
Director-General (DG) Mkuseli Apleni said 20,000 of the nearly 270,000 applications still need to be processed.
He said the department has issued more than 255,000 work, study and business permits to Zimbabweans since the December 2010 deadline.
Apleni also announced the successful transfer of 350 defence force officers to serve as immigration officials at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport.
The DG said they have been trained to deal with child and human trafficking, as well as illegal immigration and money laundering.
He said a new method of immigration management will be used, which will see officials going beyond passport control.
