Generation's Akhona appears in court

THE case against Maggie Benedict, who plays Akhona on Generations, was postponed yesterday because CCTV footage of her allegedly shoplifting could not be transferred onto the defence team's computers.
Prosecutor Fikile Hlabangani told the Randburg Magistrates Court, west of Joburg, that the laptop on which the footage was saved didn't have the right software for it to be transferred. He said the footage was shown to Akhona's lawyer, Jonathan Kaiser, earlier in the morning.
Before her case was called, the soapie star sat in the public gallery reading a book. She was wearing black jeans, a white vest and a black jersey.
She was bust last year for allegedly stealing a packet of Panado tablets worth R17.90 at Checkers in Joburg's Cresta Mall.
Kaiser previously told reporters that Benedict's case would not even go to trial because the charges levelled against her were ridiculous.
The case will continue on Thursday.
