HARARE - The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Torerayi Moyo, has announced that government will roll out the “One Pupil, One Tablet - One Student, One Laptop" programme in 2026, as part of efforts to digitise and modernise Zimbabwe's schools.

Moyo made the announcement via his X account, describing the initiative as bold and transformative.

"This programme is designed to modernise the learning environment in both primary and secondary schools by equipping learners with personal digital devices," Moyo said.

He emphasised that the goal is to ensure equitable access to technology, digital content and online learning resources for all pupils and students, regardless of geographic location.

"This programme is a critical step toward bridging the digital divide between urban and rural schools, and it aligns with our broader vision of building a resilient, inclusive and future-ready education system," he added.

Moyo said the Ministry is working closely with stakeholders, development partners and the private sector to guarantee a successful rollout.

He stressed that the future of education in Zimbabwe is digital, and the government is committed to making that future accessible to every learner.

"Education is the foundation of national development. Let us build it with innovation, equity and purpose," Moyo said.
