A US man viciously beat his girlfriend's son with a belt and a drumstick because he failed to flush the toilet, South Carolina police said.
Authorities in Rock Hill were called to the 13-year-old boy's school in March after the teen showed up covered with bruises and finger marks, WBTV reported.
The boy told police his mother's boyfriend, Deshawn Williams, 34, came home from work the night before to discover that the toilet hadn't been flushed â€" a fact investigators said sent the man into a rage.
Williams "became angry and began striking him on the leg with a drumstick," the teen told police, adding that he then beat him with a belt and hit him in the face, the television station reported.
The boy was left with a large red mark across his stomach, a swollen upper lip, and finger marks on his chest, according to a police report.
Williams was arrested over the weekend, nearly two months after the incident, according to the Rock Hill Herald. He was charged with cruelty to children and released on $470 bond.
The child's mother said she was at work at the time of the incident, according to the police report.
