Family caught in mysterious haunting and family feud

A Chipinge family is facing a series of disturbing and unexplained events they believe are linked to the ghosts of two deceased traditional healers. According to the family, these healers' services were never paid for by their late patriarch before his death in 2019, and the unresolved debts have led to a series of supernatural occurrences and family conflict.
Sekuru Zondai Mtetwa, a member of the family, explained that their father, who passed away several years ago, had a reputation for practicing witchcraft and possessing goblins, which he acquired from the two traditional healers. The family believes that these debts, left unpaid upon their father's death, are now manifesting in the form of hauntings and misfortune.
The family's ordeal includes mysterious nightly fires that appear and disappear without explanation, as well as a mental breakdown suffered by Sekuru Zondai's daughter. The situation has escalated to the point where the case is now being addressed in Chief Musikavanhu's community court, though a resolution remains elusive.
"Our father had made a pact with these healers, but after his death, no one could fulfill his obligations," Sekuru Zondai explained. "We were directed by the traditional leadership to seek spiritual healing, and it was revealed to us that the suffering we are experiencing is due to the ghosts of the two healers, who are angry over the unpaid debts."
Sekuru Zondai shared that for months, a strange fire has appeared at their homestead every night, burning until dawn and vanishing by morning. "It was terrifying," he said. "We sought help from a healer as instructed by the Chief, but we remain fearful that the fires could return at any time."
The family's emotional strain was further compounded when Sekuru Zondai's daughter, a college student, began experiencing mental health issues shortly after her marriage. A traditional healer reportedly told the family that her condition was linked to the wizardry practices of her late grandfather. "The healer told us that my father and his sister were responsible for killing my daughter's husband, and that when her avenging spirit began to manifest, things spiraled out of control," he explained.
In an effort to undo the harm caused by his father's unresolved pact, Sekuru Zondai had to return his daughter's bride price to her son-in-law.
Complicating matters further, Sekuru Zondai's elder brother, Donald, who lives in Harare, has refused to cooperate in seeking traditional help. Despite multiple summons from Chief Musikavanhu's court, Donald, who is opposed to consulting traditional healers, believes such practices contradict his personal beliefs. This refusal has led to a police report and Sekuru Zondai's brief arrest for allegedly calling his brother a wizard.
When contacted for comment, Donald denied any knowledge of the family's situation. "I know nothing of that sort. I have never heard of any family matter before the chief's court," he stated.
Lovemore Manesa, an aide to Chief Musikavanhu, confirmed that the case remains unresolved, pending Donald's cooperation. "We have summoned him many times, but he has reported the matter to the police, which led to his brother's arrest," Manesa explained. "We have tried reasoning with him, but his refusal to attend the court has stopped any progress."
Frustrated by the lack of resolution, Sekuru Zondai has appealed for outside assistance. "Anyone who can help is welcome," he pleaded, expressing his hope that the community or spiritual leaders will be able to bring an end to the family's suffering.
As the family's troubles persist, the case highlights the ongoing tensions between traditional practices, modern beliefs, and unresolved family disputes, leaving emotional and psychological scars in their wake.
