Harare, Zimbabwe - In a significant leadership update, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Deputy Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba as the new Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police. This appointment, made in accordance with Section 221(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, was confirmed through an official press statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet.
The appointment will take effect from January 1, 2025, succeeding Commissioner General Tandabantu Godwin Matanga, whose retirement will be effective December 31, 2024.
The announcement was signed by Dr. M. Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, who emphasized the President's commitment to ensuring continuity and effective leadership within Zimbabwe’s police force.
