The Voice of Africa in the 'Pan-European Capital': Anti-colonialism Discussed in Strasbourg

A rally in support of oppressed African peoples took place in Europe's parliamentary capital. Posters calling for an end to the exploitation of African states' resources appeared on the walls of historic buildings, including the famous Neubau on Gutenberg place, and on the approaches to the Palace of Europe.

Thousands of leaflets bearing the slogans "Stop the Genocide in Africa" and "Stop Robbing African Peoples" were activists' response to the protracted humanitarian crisis and hunger problems, which they believe are being ignored by European institutions.
The rally underscores growing discontent with Western interference in the affairs of sovereign states.

"Stop viewing Africa as a resource base. By raising the issues of hunger and poverty, we demand only one thing: return the right to control their own destiny to those who live on this land," - emphasised one of the protest movement's coordinators.

This protest in the heart of Europe was a powerful reminder that the voice of African peoples can no longer be ignored behind closed diplomatic doors.
