Social media users have been singled out as a threat to Christianity and should be dealt with, Prophet Walter Magaya has said.
According to Magaya, social media platforms are being used to spread lies about true prophets, including him.
"Let all Christians join hands in prayer against social media for spreading lies against prophets such as that of cucumbers and the like" he told his followers on New Year's Day as reported by H-Metro.
He added "Rise of false prophets trying to make their name by devising underhand things said to be miracles will lead authorities to revise rules and laws that will affect innocent Christians and genuine prophets,".
In December, pictures of his congregants clutching 'anointed' maize cobs during his service went viral.
On Tuesday, scores of social media users attacked Magaya over his 'prophecy' that a prominent personality in Zimbabwe would die this year.
He also said several Southern African countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo would be engulfed in chaos.
Social media users said Magaya was mere reading newspapers and watching television news to make predictions disguised as prophecies.
DRC is currently rocked by chaos over President Joseph Kabila's continued stay in power after the expiry of his term of office.
