Tragedy struck the Mkhosana CBZ area in Victoria Falls on Sunday night when a 38-year-old man was killed in an encounter with an elephant.

The victim has been identified as Gift Siziba, an employee of local hospitality company Wild Horizons.

According to reports, Siziba was on his way to attend the funeral of a colleague when the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses said the elephant confronted him near a residential property in the Mkhosana suburb. The animal reportedly grabbed and dragged him for some distance before fatally trampling him outside a house.

Residents said the elephant later retreated into nearby bushland.
