Self‑imposed interim secretary‑general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Sengezo Tshabangu, has announced a series of new appointments, claiming that the terms of office for previous office bearers have expired.
In a letter dated 13 February 2026, Tshabangu said the appointments follow an explanatory note issued on 5 February, in which his faction argued that the latest application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court by Sesel Zvidzai and four others did not affect the High Court ruling declaring that all CCC structures and office bearers — except the Parliamentary Caucus, Interim Secretary‑General and Local Government Caucus — saw their terms expire on 27 May 2024.
"Now that there are no further legal challenges to the judgment and order of Justice Dube, and therefore no other legal obstacles, it has become necessary to, in phases, immediately implement the legal opinion sought and obtained by the party," Tshabangu wrote.
He said the legal opinion advised that, with the expiry of terms of office, the party should "return to constitutionalism, collective leadership, clear political strategy and tactics".
Tshabangu then announced several appointments with immediate effect:
Francis Badzarigere as Interim National Organising Secretary; Honourable Susan Matsunga as Interim Deputy National Organising Secretary; Nonhlanhla Mlotshwa as Interim Chairperson of the Women's Assembly; Councillor Tichaona Mungwariri as Interim Chairperson of the Youth Assembly; Kudakwashe Matibiri as Interim Treasurer‑General; and Nqobizitha Mlilo as Interim Party Spokesperson and Interim Secretary‑General Spokesperson.
He said the appointments were intended to stabilise and grow the party as the country enters a "momentous period".
"This is our statement of intent. Whatever the challenges of the past, our general membership is called up to reorganise and remobilise the base in the spirit of forgiveness, reconciliation and maximum discipline. Collective democratic leadership ought to define all our party structures," Tshabangu wrote.
He added that no time should be lost in "bringing Zimbabweans together for shared prosperity" as the party restructures.
