The City of Harare has extended its rates discount period to March 7, 2026, in a move aimed at encouraging timely payments and advancing the capital's transformation into a "Smart City of Choice by 2030."
Town Clerk Engineer Phakamile Moyo announced the extension in a statement, saying the decision was meant to give residents and businesses additional time to settle their accounts while benefiting from the discounted rates.
"Let us continue to support the ‘Harare, A Smart City of Choice by 2030' vision by paying our bills and rates," said Eng Moyo.
He said ratepayers can make payments through various platforms provided by the municipality, including bank deposits, mobile money services such as EcoCash and OneWallet, as well as online payment facilities.
Eng Moyo added that residents are able to check their balances using the City's automated systems and can request bills via email.
The extension forms part of the municipality's broader efforts to mobilise revenue to improve service delivery, rehabilitate infrastructure and drive digitalisation initiatives under its Smart City blueprint.
"Together we can make Harare a smart city," Eng Moyo said, urging ratepayers to take advantage of the extended discount period before the March deadline.
