It is not business as usual in Bulawayo as corporates enjoy the spending mood brought about by preparations for the 21st Movement celebrations to be held in the neighbouring Matopos on Saturday.

Local business persons, despite size and nature of operations, have expressed gratitude for ZANU PF's choice of venue citing how it has been a happy trigger for spending in Bulawayo.

Manager of one of Bulawayo's popular guest houses, Mr John Dhlodhlo, could not hide his joy saying his lodge has recorded the largest number of arrivals since Christmas.

A local vendor, Thabani Mlilo, who specialises in production of curios said his business has over the past two days benefitted from the influx of people into Bulawayo.

"I would like to believe that on Saturday, more people from other cities will be here (in Bulawayo). That means more money for us," said Mlilo.

Bulawayo is currently hosting 80 percent of the expected 100 000 delegates to attend the President's birthday celebrations in Matopos.

Matopos hosts the Matopo National Park which boasts of the monumental Matopo Hills.

Famed by British choice of to have their son, Cecil John Rhodes buried there, Matopo Hills remains a historical monument for the people of Matabeleland whose great ancestor, Mzilikazi, is buried in the hills.
