The police have initiated extensive investigations and launched a manhunt to apprehend individuals who are fabricating and disseminating false statements regarding security, social, and political matters.

Recently, some of these individuals circulated a message falsely claiming that the Zimbabwe Republic Police was preparing for upcoming elections, and another was related to the SADC Election Observer Mission. Additional fabricated statements pertain to a variety of criminal, social, and political issues.

However, the police have explicitly denied issuing any statements on these matters. Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, emphasized that the police have launched investigations into these cases to apprehend the culprits.

He reiterated that the Zimbabwe Republic Police has not issued any statements regarding the SADC SEOM Final Report or any matters concerning the country's leadership, be it criminal, social, or political. Any statement purported to be from the ZRP is false and malicious.

Additionally, the police debunked a press statement circulating on social media, which falsely claimed that they were preparing for fresh elections in the country. They clarified that they have no such preparations and encouraged the public to focus on developmental issues.

Investigations have revealed that the fraudulent press statement was digitally manipulated, altered, and supplemented with counterfeit details for political purposes.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi stated that the police would take legal action against these individuals who seek to sow chaos in the country. They are actively investigating this criminal syndicate responsible for issuing the false and counterfeit press statement in the name of the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
