Two passengers travelling in the loading box of an Isuzu KB300 truck died after they were thrown onto the tarmac when the vehicle veered off the road along the Ngundu–Tanganda Road on Thursday.

The fatal accident occurred at the 213-kilometre peg.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

"The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on February 12, 2026, at the 213 km peg along Ngundu–Tanganda Road," said Nyathi.

"As a result, two passengers who were in the vehicle loading box were thrown onto the tarmac. The two victims sustained severe head injuries and were rushed to St Peter's Hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon admission."

Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
