CCTV exposes beer thief

A SAKUBVA man blamed drunkenness after he was caught stealing two bottles of Viceroy from OK Supermarket.
Oscar Chitambo (35) was captured by CCTV monitors hiding the brandy in his jacket. He pleaded guilty when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura last Tuesday, blaming his bad behavior on drunkenness. Chitambo was ordered to pay $20 fine or risk going to prison for 10 days. He was not given any time to pay.
Prosecuting was Fletcher Karombe. It was the State's case that Themba Ndebvu, an OK Supermarket CCTV monitor was at his workplace on February 15 when he saw Chitambo stealing the brandy. Upon his arrest he was searched and the two bottles were recovered from his jacket," said Karombe.
