Mthwakazi Republic Party has said it will not accept piece meal solutions to the problems of Matabeleland from anyone even the government of Zimbabwe or any Mthwakazi party.
"Surprisingly following the announcement by Mthwakazi Republic Party that it will be participating in the 2018 harmonised elections, the party has been facing a scramble towards it by some political groupings. The so called Zimbabwean National parties from Harare. These national parties are pushing the agenda to forcefully merge Mthwakazi state and Mashonaland at whatever expense," Mbonisi Gumbo the party spokesperson said.
"Previously, between February and March we met the leaders from the so called two major opposition political parties from Harare, in which the other party came offering us full implementation of Devolution of power while the other sent three officials to us following our President Mqondisi Moyo' s interview with ANN7 News channel in South Africa and offered us a frame work of federalism."
He said all these efforts are being made by the so called big parties, so as to drive us into supporting their respective presidential candidates in the 2018 elections since we have no intention whatsoever to field a presidential candidate.
"One of those parties offered us (eleven) 11 seats in Matabeleland, claiming that the same problems we face in Matabeleland are also faced by the people in Masvingo and Manicaland. The other proposed that instead of Zimbabwe having 10 provinces they will reduce them to 5, with elected Governors if they win the Presidential elections. They even told us that in Harare all the so called big parties are concerned with massive rise of Matabeleland and they believe that Mthwakazi issue is the major threat to whoever will take over from Mugabe," he said.
"These parties are seeking a deal with us by using the Gukurahundi massacre as a way of romanticising the party's leadership. They thought that by offering to compensate Matabeleland we would just accept money and forget about the innocent blood of over 30 000 of our innocent people with some children who were left vulnerable with no parents."
Gumbo said they were even invited to the Grand coalition but their position as a party is not centered in only removing Mugabe but rather giving their people the long awaited freedom from the Shona oppression in all corners of life.
"We would like to categorically put it clear that as a party we will not accept any piece meal solutions towards the Mthwakazi cause. Our vision and mission is to free Matabeleland and that's the best solution they can ever award us. As for the issue of compensating our people will deal with it as an in-house matter," he said.
"The only acceptable compensation to us is Mthwakazi Restoration, there is no monetary value for a cold blooded killed innocent relative. The only acceptable compensation to us is Justice in our life time that also includes the Restoration."
