Zanu-PF happy with state of party

The 307th ordinary session of the Zanu-PF Politburo has ended at the party headquarters in Harare with members expressing satisfaction with the state of agriculture, the party, and the manner in which the 21st February Movement celebrations were held.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Ignatius Chombo said the party also discussed preparations for the 2017 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), in which the party will participate under the theme:
'Offering Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Development.'

In the commissariat report, the party's National Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere said Zanu-PF is generally stable in all provinces and that preparations are underway for the Mwenezi East by-election.
The meeting also got a report from Agriculture Minister, Dr Joseph Made, who said the maize output would surpass the national annual consumption.

He added that cotton is expected to double, while tobacco production has gained marginally.

On ZIMASSET, the Politburo was briefed that Statutory Instrument 64 had benefited the country through value addition and job creation.

Turning to the issue of the Youth League in Bulawayo Province, Chombo said it was not discussed as Chipanga the leader had visited the province to iron out the issues.

Pertaining to the unfinished elections in Masvingo, Dr Chombo said the Politburo resolved that the elections be held soon.

The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe was also in attendance.
