WHEN Tshidiso Mohale's ghost kept haunting them in their dreams, they had no choice but to open his grave.
And what they found in the coffin confirmed their worst nightmares.
According to his mother, Lydia Mohale (74) from Phase 10 in Bloemfontein, Tshidiso (36) died in a car accident and was buried in May. But her dead son appeared to members of the family in a dream, claiming his soul was not at peace.
"He asked me why we allowed him to be buried while he was alive," she said.
Lydia consulted a Welkom sangoma and prophet, Mapuleng Selepe. After throwing the bones, Mapuleng told the family Tshidiso had been turned into a zombie. The sangoma said there was muthi and a knife buried with their son.
Lydia got all the right papers and on Saturday afternoon, Tshidiso's grave was opened.
They were left speechless when Mapuleng discovered muthi under her son's armpit. An okapi was found in his coffin.
Lydia said her son was a bishop and a well-known inyanga. He was employed by a road construction company in Mpumalanga when he died.
Mapuleng said whoever put the muthi under Tshidiso's armpit wanted to use his ghost to kill members of his family.
