Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga on Monday said that the Zimbabwe Defence and Security Services are encouraged by new developments.
He did not go into detail about what those developments were but he did say that these would include contact between the President and the former Vice President and Zanu-PF interim president Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, who is expected in the country shortly.
When asked about her husband's whereabouts and possible return on BBC, Mnangagwa's wife refused to comment.
Last week, following the military intervention, it was reported that during the negotiations with the generals Mugabe had at some point refused to sign a deal in Mnangagwa's absence.
