A man who bashed his wife after she asked where he had slept the previous night has been fined by a Chitungwiza magistrate.
Patrick Mapfumo, pleaded guilty to physical abuse charges when he appeared before magistrate Yeukai Chigodora.
He risks being jailed for 20 days if he fails to pay fine of $100.
The complainant Talent Chikuyo is the wife to the accused person.
Prosecuting, Edmond Ndambakuwa, the State proved that on January 9 around 10am, the couple had a misunderstanding when the complainant asked her husband why he did not come back home the previous night.
As a result Mapfumo tried to cover up for his wrong doings by grabbing the complainant by the neck, pushing her against the wall and kicking her on her stomach.
In his defence Mapfumo told the court that he bashed her after she provoked him.
"She started beating me after a misunderstanding.
"I am very sorry for that and I want to apologise to my wife.
"Anger overshadowed my mind and I am now aware of the outcome of using emotions," he said.
