MDC-T Bulawayo spokesperson Felix Mafa Sibanda has rapped the war veterans Secretry general Victor Matemadanda for trying to defend President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the involvement in the Gukurahundi massacres.

Matemadanda on Saturday said former President Robert Mugabe was exclusively responsible for the massacres which claimed over 20 000 lives in Matabeleland and Midlands.

"Without menacing my words the SG of the War vets is just but shielding his boos from heinous and genocide Gukurahundi  (1983 to 1987) in parts of the Midlands and Matabeleland. Over 200 000 civilians were murdered in cold blood by the fifth brigade under the command of Mugabe collective regime. Governance is collective therefore what SG of the vets Matematada is fabrication of the high order. This advanced by the same SG to protect ED at all costs," Sibanda said.

"It is prudent to point that government duties and roles or obligations are collective by nature. It is therefore true that all government ministers and Army commanders are equally guilty of that  genocide. This doesn't exclude Mugabe and I'm  not protecting him  but all those who composed the then government are to be charged of Crime against Humanity, period.. The wholesome government is made of three arms, the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. These segments of the then government must be hold accountable for that willful  genocide perpetrated under their noise."

He said an political scientists worth his/her salt will agree with the above assertion that the entire government then is culpable of the crime against humanity and be brought to the ICC for persecution.

"Why single out Mugabe yet ED was the minister of Security ,Sydney Sekeramayi  minister of defence and the late Enos  Nkala minister of Home affairs., while Mugabe as the President. In conclusion the message by war vet SG is nothing but hot air in attempt to exonerate ED Munangagwa the most influential minister during the genocide era  soon after Zimbabwe independence. Midlands, particularly Kwekwe ,Silobela Lower Gwelo just to name but a few will never forget how ED's gang of Chinyati and Benson  Ndemera ( both deceased)  killed thousands of innocent civilians in cold blood just because were either Ndebeles or ZAPU followers," he said.

"The truth must be told in order to reconcile, forgive and develop our Zimbabwe together."
