Radio transmission has improved significantly in Hwange and surrounding areas following the installation of equipment at the Kamativi transmission site last month.

The equipment was installed to enable for the first time since independence, access to six national radio stations in remote parts of the country.

By the last week of April, ZBC's SFM had become accessible on 91.5 FM as the ZimDigital team continued to work on the Kamativi transmission site.

The installation of the equipment was aimed at improving accessibility in Wankie, Dete, Gwayi and parts of Binga.

The ZBC News crew visited Mwemba community in Hwange and the villagers were grateful that they can now access their favourite programmes, with Radio Zimbabwe and National FM proving to be popular through programmes like 'Ezemhuli' and soccer commentary.

The villagers, however, said the terrain in the area sometimes affects the transmission.

The ZimDigital team also installed new transmission equipment at the Ken Maur site in Lupane and are currently installing new equipment at Manjolo site near Binga centre.
