Two brothers in court for rape

Two Hurungwe brothers appeared before a Karoi magistrate last week facing charges of raping a 23-year-old woman from Chief Chundu area.
Garikai Joseph (31) and brother Aaron (27) of Nyakasikana Village in the Chundu area were advised to apply for bail at the High Court when they appeared before magistrate Mrs Nyaradzo Ringisayi last Friday.
It is the State's case that during the night of May 13 this year the two allegedly followed the woman who was fleeing from her home following a misunderstanding.
The two it is alleged threatened to assault the woman if she refused to be intimate with Aaron.
It is alleged Aaron raped her several times while Garikai was on the look out for passers-by.
When Aaron finished, it is also alleged the two brothers switched positions and Garikai also raped the woman.
After the incident, the woman allegedly ran away naked with the two brothers in pursuit with her clothes.
They wanted to persuade her not report the matter to the police.
Although the woman later accepted her clothes she reported the case to the police leading to their arrest.
Mr Benjamin Negato prosecuted.
