Zimbabweans of Ndebele origin who have attained South African citizenship or permanent residence status are supportive of xenophobic attacks against African residing in that country, Trevor Ncube who is Presi9dnet Emmerson Mnangagwa's advisor has alleged.
Ncube posted the statement after revealing that he was told by a South African taxi driver that there are rampant xenophobic attacks happening in Johannesburg.
"Zimbabweans from Matabeleland with SA Citizenship/Residence are the worst apologists to Afrophobia," Ncube said. "They mistakenly think their proximity to Nguni Heritage is protection to incendiary hatred of black Africans."
Social media users accused Ncube of being too comfortable by being close to President Mnangagwa and hence attacking his tribesman.
Ncube's statement comes after South African media reported that there is a fresh wave of xenophobia in the country which has left about 3 foreigners dead while hundreds are displaced.
On Friday President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa called for peace among South Africans pleading them to refrain from attacking foreigners.
The most affected provinces are Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal.
