Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri yesterday accused foreign Christian evangelists of seeking to make names by making false prophesies on Zimbabwe.
Addressing police recruits during a send-off church service at Morris Depot in Harare, Chihuri said the prophets came to Zimbabwe for wrong reasons.
"Some prophets are coming here for the wrong purpose. They want to override our own preachers and our own way of doing things.
"They must go back and shine in their own countries," said Chihuri.
In a veiled attack on TB Joshua, Chihuri said: "They are saying a lot of bad things about Zimbabwe, calling it a small country yet in their own countries many disasters are happening, planes are crashing, natural disasters are occurring and people are dying every day."
"Dont be fooled by these prophets who call themselves true prophets of God. Only the word of God helps you."
Chihuri also attacked privately-owned media houses for allegedly denigrating the country's leadership and urged police to guard against Western imperialism.
Chihuri also chastised homosexuals for subverting Gods plan for humankind.
