An image of 3 Bond Notes sharing similar serial numbers has resurfaced online. The notes with serial number AE 0600737 have generated speculation that the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has resorted to mass production of money to ease cash shortages bedevilling the country.
However other people argued that chances are they are all fake money printed by a private entity. "People are still denying that fake money is one of the major contributors to RTGs devaluation leading to high inflation." One Twitter users said.
On Tuesday ZBC reported that the streets of Harare are awash with fake bonds notes being traded on the foreign currency black market by fraudsters.
The fraudsters are reportedly duping unsuspecting people of thousands of US dollars every day around the Eastgate Mall area in central Harare.
