Zanu-PF has threatened rogue war veterans who invaded the sacred Njelele shine in Matobo, and conducted unsanctioned cleansing ceremonies with arrest if they return to the shine.

The Njelele issue has divided the war veterans with some calling for the resignation of their leaders Jabulani Sibanda for calling former fighters who invaded Njelele as "renegades."

Traditional chiefs and senior Zanu-PF leaders recently met to discuss the matter and it was resolved that the veterans never again set foot on the shrine.

However  there is a grouping that has organised a cleansing ceremony on 7 July and has already hired buses from Harare and Bulawayo for the ceremony.

"Come 7 July and you will see. Some people are opposed to these ceremonies but they will come around. Some of them were also opposed to the land reform programme, but now they have benefited," said Monica Mguni-Sikhosana one of the organisers.

The cleansing ceremonies are reportedly led by a medium only identified as Nehoreka.

"Nehoreka says he has conducted cleansing ceremonies for some of the same people who today do not want us to go, but we will go," said Sikhosana.

However, Zanu-PF national party spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said, "No one is going there, if they go they will be arrested."
