The founder of Divine Messenger Church was last week humiliated in Glen View 7, Harare, where he was allegedly caught in bed with a married woman.
Pastor Kenneth Mudoni Dube (38) was thoroughly beaten up and smeared with mealie meal by residents in the neighbourhood who had gathered at the house where he was caught with Leoba Chinyowa. Leoba's husband, Josiah Marange (32) was not around at the time of the alleged sexual encounter. However, Pastor Dube DENIES the allegations. Leoba and Pastor Dube were taken to police and later released.
POPULAR VERSIONPastor Dube organised a job for Marange and then 'made sure' he worked night shift, at least on the fateful day. Tenants at the house that was used as a love nest were tipped off and locked the door leading outside before forcing the 20-year-old Leoba to produce her panties which were found stained with fresh sperms.
Pastor Dube had promised Marange that he would visit them for a counselling session last Sunday only to visit a day after making sure that Marange was at work. Marange is believed to be employed as a security guard by Pastor Dube's young brother. Narrating the incident, one of the tenants at the house identified as Baba Fay said he visited Marange at his workplace and broke the news.
"I instructed female tenants to check Leoba's panties and fresh semen was discovered and I then visited her husband to ask him if he had had sex with Leoba before going to work. I narrated everything to Josiah (Marange) after he told me that they had had sex with Leoba in the morning and NOT in the evening. Josiah had been suspecting his wife after she was asked by Dube to be his secretary at the church and from that time he was giving them food and helping them pay rentals. Dube secured a job for Josiah who is now employed by Dube's young brother as a security guard.
"On the day, children tipped us that Mai Marange was in the house with the pastor. We trapped them by locking the back door waiting for them to finish whatever they were doing and neighbours came by dawn and we gave him a thorough beating. We do not expect people of the cloth to visit women when their husbands are not present or conduct counselling," said Baba vaFay.
The pastor ACKNOWLEDGED THAT HE WAS BEATEN on allegations of having sex with a church member's wife.
"Of course I was beaten up and my chest is still in pain. But the truth is nothing happened between me and the woman. I had gone there to counsel them. Their marriage was being threatened by a financial problem and they were also having problems with their neighbours," said man of God, pastor Dube.
He said after the counselling session, that residents suggested was 'some kind of session', he was shocked to find the door locked.
"When I was about to leave, I was shocked to find the door locked from outside. The husband had given me permission to counsel his wife in his absence, but he was afraid of the mob so he never mentioned that on the day of the incident," he added.
Leoba DENIED cheating with Pastor Dube, saying it was pure fabrication by residents. She said the women forcibly inspected her panties and injured her in the process.
"The pastor came to the house after my husband had left for work and we sat, whilst he counseled me. All the tenants and my husband's relatives, who had been called to the scene, descended on him as others poured mealie-meal on both of us whilst others were beating the pastor with electrical cables on his head. They forcefully inspected my undergarments tearing it in the process as I wanted to inspect it in the presence of my husband. There was no semen on it but they mocked my husband saying I fooled him with prayers received from pastor. They are now mocking me as Mai pastor but I am very faithful to my husband," said Leoba.
Marange was to the defence of his wife, saying he TRUSTS her and that the allegations were a mere fabrication by the jealous women in the neighbourhood.
"I trust my wife and she will NEVER do such a thing. When the men came to my workplace I refused to accompany them as I trust my wife and value my job," he said.
Marange added that he was mulling legal action against HIS RELATIVES and the tenants for disrespecting him and his wife. The couple joined Pastor Dube's Divine Messenger Church in March where THEY ARE RECEIVING PRAYERS TO GET A CHILD and Dube's wife is based in the village.
