It was a question of who will police the police when Sergeant Titus Nhau, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) attached at the Administration department at Central Police station in Masvingo was last week allegedly caught stealing two smoked sausages at OK Supermarket.
Nhau allegedly sneaked the two sausages into his pockets and headed out of the supermarket.

Police had not commented on the matter until the time of going to Press while efforts to get a comment from OK Bazaars were fruitless. It is alleged that Nhau who was being monitored on the CCTV cameras ordered plain sadza and smoked sausages valued at US$ 3.60. He however, stashed the two sausages in his pocket and went on to pay just US$ 1 for plain sadza after changing the product code on the food container.

Alert security guards nabbed him just as he was stepping out of the supermarket. It only came to light that Nhau is a Police detail after interrogations by the security guards as he was pleading to be saved from his seniors. He allegedly went further to admit that he was stealing from OK for a long time as he continued to plead for mercy as the issue was likely to jeopardize his career as a Police officer.

Sources close to the matter revealed that sergeant Nhau worked under the uniformed forces but was only exempted from wearing a uniform on medical grounds. It is reported that he had a problem with his feet that the doctor had recommended that he should not wear closed shoes.
