Bogus cop in hot soup

A 30-YEAR-OLD Bindura man who purported to be a traffic cop before demanding a bribe from an accident victim has been arrested.
Keith Phillimon Simbanegavi appeared before Bindura magistrate Joyleen Mugedhe yesterday.
Prosecutor Paidamoyo Muchakata alleged on March 26 Tinashe Kazembe was involved in an accident whilst driving a Honda Fit registration number AEY 7430, he was in company of Brighton Kapeni who sustained a deep cut on the left arm.
Soft Maronda called the accused whom.they thought was a cop and said they needed the injured Kapeni to be medically examined.
Simbanegavi took the injured to a nearby private hospital and demanded US$280 as fine.
He was given $60 and demanded the balance days after which he was given.
A week later traffic police came to pick the car from Kapeni for investigations and he disclosed that he had paid fine to the accused who said he worked at CID law and Order Bindura.
The police managed to arrest the suspect at Bindura market.
