In a clear case of gaining political mileage ahead of next week elections, aspiring ZANU PF candidate for Mazowe South,  Nobert Mazungunye is accused of blocking his rival, Rangarirai Chari Mudzingidze, a CCC candidate, from helping in the funeral arrangements of his relative.

The deceased, Podius Nyahombe who passed  away last week on Friday in prison is yet to be buried as politicians battle for his body for political expediency.

It is reported  that Mudzingidze,  who is related to the deceased  bought several items for the funeral  including the coffin but Mazungunye blocked the gesture.

A source close to the funeral arrangements said the deceased's relatives failed to collect his body at the Hospital on the orders of ZANU PF candidate who claimed that the person who was helping was aligned to CCC.

"Chari bought a Coffin and food plus hiring  a truck to go to Harare and bring the deceased. However, all the papers were stopped at the hospital after a call was made by  Zanu pf claiming  that  the person who arranged everything was a CCC candidate," said the source.

The source further claimed that ZANU PF also threatened Mudzingidze not to attend the funeral which is scheduled for Brawlands farm.

Contacted for comment, Mazungunye denied the allegations saying Mudzingidze  hijacked the funeral against the will of the family.

"That is not true…i did not block anything. The deceased has been buried today. I even witnessed the burial which went well…Chari tried to take over the funeral arrangements clandestinely against the will of the family claiming to be a friend to the deceased trying to get political mileage. The family denied it".
