With 38 parliamentary election constituencies still awaiting to be declared across the country, Zimbabwe could yet again be heading for a two-thirds Zanu-PF majority unless the main opposition CCC holds the ground in the final stretch, ZEC statistics indicate.
ZEC has announced results in 171 constituencies so far.
Zanu-PF has won 109 constituencies; CCC 62.
Mathematically, the ruling party can reach 147 seats. CCC can secure 100 seats in the end.
Zanu-PF needs 31 out of 38 to the 141 seats mark for a two-thirds majority which gives it renewed power to amend the constitution.
There are 209 constituencies in these elections.
Polls in one constituency were not held because one of the candidates Chris Mutonhori Rwodzi died in a road accident after nomination.
The law says if that happens, the election in that affected constituency is postponed.
Democracy has become a big nightmare in Zimbabwe due to stolen and sham elections.
As a result, it has been locked in a state of crisis for over two decades.
The country always holds a charade of farcical elections.
Overall, the elections were characterised by massive chaos, illegalities and voter suppression in main opposition strongholds, especially Harare and Bulawayo, which amount to rigging.
The Sadc election observer mission and other teams say the elections simply did not meet basic regional and international standards.
